Life Happens!Government shutdowns, company layoffs, union strikes, illness, family emergencies, major car repairs—these are all very real events and it is likely that you have already or will experience a few of them throughout your life. The question you should ask yourself is not will these things happen, but rather when will they happen. The next questions is “will I be okay when they happen?” Unfortunately, for the majority of families, couples, and individuals, the answer would be quick, "No."
Let's take a look at some statistics. They may surprise you:

Are Budgets REALLY that bad? Many people associate the word "budget" with the idea of restrictions. They don't want to be on a budget because they don't want to go without *blank*. A budget would keep them from having fun. I'd like to debunk that myth.
Preaching Fear or Preaching IgnoranceIt is widely known that the U.S. economy is experiencing the longest economic expansion in history. This has provided many individuals, families, and businesses time to recoup their losses from the last recession and make some serious headway.
When experiencing strong markets, ample job opportunities, rising home values, and competitive wages, it is easy to forget the past. The "spend what you make" mindset is rampant in our country today and it seems no one is preparing for the end of this expansion. What is a Good Job?
Growing up, my parents raised me to believe in hard work. They never gave the impression that one profession was better than another and made it clear that they would be proud of me no matter the industry in which I worked. There are a few examples of this accepting and encouraging spirit that have stuck with me to this day:
1. The gratitude of my mother: I recall my mother speaking to a gentleman at a hardware store. Although I do not remember what they were talking about, I remember the man's awkward and preemptive apology, "Sorry if I smell, I just got off work. I work at the water treatment plant..." He paused, expecting an unpleasant response. My mother, smiled and responded kindly, "Thank you! I appreciate being able to drink clean water!" The smile he gave showed he was not used to being appreciated or noticed for the important work he did. Very few people would turn down extra money. Paying down debt, maxing out your 401(k), starting your cash vacation fund, or splurging on a date night–I'm sure you could put some extra cash to use.
Below I will give you some ideas to generate a side income at home! I have personally tried a few of these and the others have come highly recommended. |
